International Medis Awards for Medical Research

As part of its social responsibility program, for the eighth consecutive year, Medis is sponsoring the International Medis Awards for Medical Research, a competition in which an international panel of experts selects the best applied research achievements in selected areas of medicine.

By recognizing and honoring selected works, Medis raises awareness and promotes the importance of research in the development of medical science in the CEE region, valuably contributing to disease diagnosis and treatment.

FIELDS: Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Intensive Care Medicine and Anesthesiology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Pulmonology and Allergology, Rheumatology

Finalist in 2020 were presented in a unique Pledge to Science documentary film featuring more than 40 of the world's greatest medical and pharmaceutical experts, as well as exclusive stories from patients. In 2021 the documentary film Power of Trust presented stories of people whom science has indispensably helped on the path to health and instilled hope for a better future.

The committee has found that the submitted contributions are outstanding scientific research works with great potential for use in basic or clinical medicine and pharmacy. We are very pleased to have received many applications from candidates who have published their findings in top scientific journals with a high impact factor, with some of the works also published in the highest ranked medical publications in the world. The Power of Trust

Trust in medicine and pharmacy is based on research, which is why we have been encouraging, supporting and rewarding it for eight years. But the power of trust in research is most evident in the stories of people whom science has indispensably helped on the path to health and instilled hope for a better future.

At the ceremony, we listened to people who today live better life because of their trust in medical research. Each of us knows someone with a similar experience, and among them is also a renowned composer Drago Ivanuša. At the ceremony, he honoured the researchers with an original composition he created especially for them.

In the event we spotlighted all 19 of this year’s finalists and showed how important their work is for building trust in science. Among them, we announced 9 winners of the International Medis Awards for Medical Research 2021.
