International rare disease day

International rare disease day

At Medis we define the International Rare Disease Day as a commitment to bring novelty therapies to our patients and to help patient organizations with rare diseases in the CEE countries. For already 30 years we are focused on bringing new medicines to those in need.

Rare Disease Landscape

Most rare diseases are chronic, progressive, degenerative, disabling and frequently life-threatening. Rare diseases, often of genetic origin, affect small to extremely small populations of patients, usually fewer than 1 in 2.000 individuals. Less than 5% have an approved treatment options available. Each of the over 6,000 identified rare diseases affects a very small population, but altogether they affect 25 to 30 million of people in the EU. Enabling access to new treatment options for rare diseases is challenging for the patients, professionals and health systems across our region.

Medis is joining the initiative

We in Medis joined the world incentive for better understanding, recognition and treatment of rare diseases. Encouraging thoughts for the patients and their families were written on palms. We are stretching our hands as a sign of our support in the best way we can.
