Based on Medis’ values and mission, we have identified 10 SDGs where our activities can have the greatest positive impact. At the core is SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which serves as the foundation for all our efforts. The other nine SDGs complement and reinforce this central goal.

The 10 Medis SDGs

1. Good Health and Well-being

  • We bring missing therapies and treatments for rare diseases to the markets.
  • We ensure patient and user safety through our quality and pharmacovigilance systems.
  • We provide a safe and healthy working environment for our employees.
  • We promote a healthy lifestyle and support participation in sports and other leisure activities.
  • We offer screening tests and health check-ups for our employees and raise awareness of prevention.
  • We provide free vaccinations for our employees.

2. Quality Education

  • We support the professional development of healthcare professionals through donations and sponsorships. 
  • We support disease awareness and education for patients and the public. 
  • We enable our employees to participate in continuing education and training programs. 
  • We have established an e-learning platform. 
  • We award scholarships in various fields.

3. Gender Equality

  • Gender does not affect employment or promotion opportunities.
  • Salaries and bonuses do not differ based on employee gender.
  • We promote the highest possible proportion of women in management positions.

4. Affordable and Clean Energy

  • We increase the proportion of electricity from renewable sources through our own solar power plant. 
  • We promote the purchase of electricity from low-carbon sources. 
  • We are introducing measures to increase energy efficiency, such as heat pumps, a centralized cooling system, and LED lighting.

5. Decent Work and Economic Growth

  • We provide our employees with appropriate pay, always above the guaranteed minimum wage.
  • We enable our employees to develop their skills through internal and external training courses.
  • We provide apprenticeships and mentoring in the workplace.

6. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

  • We digitalize our business to operate more efficiently.

  • We use rolling forecasts to optimize procurement. 
  • We promote the research activities of doctors and pharmacists by sponsoring the International Medis Awards for achievements in medicine and pharmacy.

7. Reduced Inequalities

  • We enable access to innovative therapies for rare diseases in countries where this is difficult due to small size or underdevelopment. 
  • We offer employment opportunities to applicants regardless of nationality or gender. 
  • We welcome job applications from both external and internal candidates.

8. Responsible Consumption and Production

  • We collect, sort, and recycle waste. 
  • We promote the reuse of packaging and transport materials. 
  • We participate in a platform for collecting pharmaceutical waste. 
  • We optimize our stock levels to minimize the number of expired products that must be destroyed. 
  • We allow our employees to purchase discarded computers and phones.
