Sustainability
Sustainable development is deeply embedded in Medis’s business strategy and corporate culture. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint, implementing sustainable practices, and encouraging innovation so that the company contributes to sustainable growth and a better quality of life for people.
We take pride in our long-term orientation, which guides us in strategic decisions, partnerships, and our pursuit of continuous improvement. Employees play a key role in this, as sustainable development is not just a company direction but a shared journey in which every small step counts.
For many years, Medis has been participating in the international sustainability assessment platform EcoVadis, which allows us not only to monitor our own progress but also to compare ourselves with the best practices in the industry.
We also take part in the global sustainability initiative UN Global Compact, which encourages companies to operate in accordance with universal principles of human rights, environmental protection, labor standards, and anti-corruption. Medis has joined this initiative and focuses on ten UN Sustainable Development Goals in the areas where it can make the greatest positive impact.
Employee Well-being
We believe that our greatest value lies in our employees. We strive to create a working environment where we can grow, learn, and progress together. For our employees, we organize sports activities, offer free vaccinations, and subsidize preventive health screenings for certain diseases.
We respect the diversity of our employees and foster a culture based on respect, commitment, and recognition.
Our CulturePatient Focus
Patients are at the center of everything we do. In the countries where we operate, we strive to improve access to modern treatments and thereby contribute to greater healthcare equity. In addition, we have established an effective quality and pharmacovigilance system that ensures the safe, reliable, and effective use of medicines, as well as the rapid detection and management of potential risks.
We also collaborate with patient organizations to better understand patients’ needs. We support these organizations in their public awareness activities and in advocating for their interests.
Therapeutic AreasEnvironmental Responsibility
Responsible management of the environment and natural resources is an important focus for Medis. By using electricity from our own solar power plant and low-carbon sources, consistently separating waste, and continuously reducing energy consumption, we systematically decrease our environmental footprint and contribute to global sustainable development goals.
Our employees also participate in clean-up campaigns, and outdoor areas are managed in a nature-friendly way – grassy areas serve as habitats for insects, while birdhouses and feeders are installed on trees. We also participate in a platform for collecting pharmaceutical waste.
Care for EnvironmentGiving Back to Society
We support professional organizations, patient associations, NGOs, and individuals working in the fields of health, well-being, sports, arts, and ecology. We regularly donate to professional and sports organizations, cultural institutions, and artists.
Through sponsoring the International Medis Awards for Medical Research project, we support the recognition of doctors and pharmacists for their outstanding scientific achievements. In this way, we promote the development of science. The competition takes place in eleven Central and Eastern European countries across nine medical fields.
